Overview

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Production Manager to join a well-established, food manufacturer based in Barnstaple, North Devon.

You can expect to achieve a salary of circa £34-£36,000 depending upon experience.  This role is based on working a three shift pattern.

 

The Role

Be accountable and responsible for the daily running of the production department to ensure that all Key Performance Indicators are achieved across all areas to include staff, productivity, customer requirements and quality.

Duties will include:

  • Plan and produce product to customer specification to point of dispatch, following the daily production schedule.
  • Be responsible for own are immediately prior to start of shift to ensure that all aspects of the area are safe and ready for production to start.
  • Maintain hygiene standards throughout production shift in line with laid down procedures and ensure that at end of shift production are is left in an acceptable state and ready for the Hygiene team
  • Control actual and potential areas of waste across all Key Performance Indicators through fair and consistent application of all internal policies and procedures.
  • Control correct stock rotation of all materials.
  • Train new and existing staff in task procedures and review and record with team members all training activity. Identify areas of performance that may require additional training and take action to implement
  • Act on and report all Health & safety problems. Investigate incidents.
  • Ensure that all PPE is correctly worn by all staff and visitors when working in or visiting the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure agreed Process Control and traceability checks are completed to meet internal/external requirements.
  • Arrange and attend department or other meetings as required.
  • Identify ways to improve production processes and the amount of job satisfaction, motivation and morale of team members.
  • Maintain and project a professional code of conduct.
  • Ensure all quality paperwork is filled out and handed in correctly.
  • Investigate internal and external complaints and put in corrective actions to stop recurring issue.
  • Authorise staff holidays
  • Participate in customer visits and factory tours.
  • Participate and walk around when QA conducts internal audits
  • Working with other teams/departments on projects.
  • Control break times.
  • Undertake the responsibility in handing over of production from hygiene team and sign a sheet to confirm happy with standard of factory before work begins
